write to inspire: part ii

So, I think I have a draft pounded out with a cohesive theme. It flows well and sounds good as I read it. I think it's a real winner of a speech.

At this point, this song applies:

Yes, I need your help. Anyone who would be willing to look over my speech and give me constructive feedback would be greatly appreciated. I can award you with hugs and a graduation invitation that I plan to draw and send out.

If you would like to help, just text, facebook message or email me your email address so that I can send you a link to the speech.

Thanks friends!

writing to inspire: part i

I don't know what got into me recently, but I decided I want to write a speech for graduation. Something to make people laugh, remember the good times they had at college, and realize the potential they have for the future.

It's not an easy process, so I turned to YouTube to get some ideas. I watch lots of conventional speeches, but these are three that aren't necessarily traditional speeches that have inspired me lately:

The first is from Castle, the second Mr. Rogers and the last from when Matthew McConaughey won best actor last year at the Academy Awards. I started writing my speech and watching things for inspiration last night. The Mr Rogers speech had me crying my eyes out at 1 am, and I realized that I should probably get to bed.

Anyway, there is so much good to find in the world. So many people that are trying to make a difference and who do. It bums me out that so many people focus on the bad and that much of the media around us put those bad things in the spotlight. What's even sadder is that the only reason they keep feeding us the bad from the world is that we keep buying into it. It sells. I wish that we had more Mr. Rogerses and Kid Presidents in world. We need that good.
